The Age-Old Art of Scent Conjuring

Pretty cut and dried. This is a how-to on infusing essential oils with intention thus marking your very own signature scent henceforward. It's more along the lines of science than witchcraft when you take a step back.

Before you read another word, understand this: relax—but don’t come in here on no fake mystical bs because this isn’t some secret society handbook. Again: this isn’t for people who need to cosplay “dark feminine,” light candles for TikTok, and pretend they’re channeling demons from their bedroom. I hate how people have been overcomplicating simple things so they can hide behind mysticism and act like this is some forbidden art that requires a bloodline, and a bloodmoon in retrograde. That’s performative and corny.

This is oil on skin. Period.

If you can turn on a light switch, you can make a serum. It is not rocket science. It’s common sense, nose, skin, and intention. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you a costume and a personality. So with that stated, please don’t mislabel this. This is not emo witch TikTok. This is grounded, practical, grown-woman alchemy. It’s learning how to craft something real that smells like you instead of buying whatever a brand tells you is sexy this season. Anyone can master it. . .

Long before I ever called it conjuring, I was living inside scents. Back in my Macy’s retail days, I was a Fragrance Specialist and Beauty Advisor —and baby, I was all in. I lived in that department. I learned noses, moods, body chemistry, seasons, skin types, undertones, and personalities. I watched how the same perfume could smell divine on one person and completely wrong on another. I learned that scent isn’t just something you wear—it’s something that kind of defines you.

This is where I started helping people find what I called their “soul scent.” Not the trendy bottle everyone else had. Smelling good, to me, is as essential as beauty itself. It’s memory and presence. It’s how you enter a room and how you linger after you leave. Those years trained my nose, my intuition, and my understanding of how aroma shapes emotion. What you’re learning here is simply that same art—liberated from corporate bottles and reborn as spellwork down the line. Ironic, no?

Anyways, this, however, is not “perfume-making.” This is spellcraft in liquid form. A (personalized) Witchy Serum is a living blend: part fragrance, part skin elixir, part energetic amplifier. It’s how you carry intention on your skin. It’s how you walk into a room before your body does.

What you’re about to learn is the same foundation behind the custom blends people rave about, the kind that makes strangers lean in and say, “What is that?” The goal isn’t to copy a scent. The goal is to birth one—your own signature potion that smells like you, becoming more you. Every oil in this guide is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores. Your magic shouldn’t break you out. And yes, Hispanics already know: the real gems live in botanicas, tucked behind glass counters, whispered about by abuelas. If you know, you know.

Also, please remember that with any prep 'mise en plas' plays a part with any setup not just culinary, so be sure to have proper mixing apparatuses on hand along with storage vials and containers on hand. Author highly recommends using glass jars, vials or apray bottles. This is because glass is impenetrable thus ideal for keeping essential oils fresh. Glass is also really easy to clean after using oils in the container, standard cleaning removes the residual oils out. Stainless steel, too, is impervious to oils and easy to clean. Stainless steel Is a better option for travel and will not break as easily. Lastly, if you opt to use plastics, try to look for HDPE. Plastics that are specifically used with essential oils in caps, diffusers and what-have-you are made of HDPE, also known as Plastics # 2.

Now here's the nitty-gritty on the structure of a Witchy Serum. Every blend has three layers, just like any run-of-the-mill spell:

Base: The carrier oils. These make up 85–90% of your blend. They nourish skin, hold energy, and anchor the scent.
Heart: The body of your potion. These oils shape the personality.
Spirit: Essential oils. This is the magic. Potent. Focused. Transformative.

A safe, powerful ratio looks like this:

85–90% carrier oils
10–15% essential oils

For a 1- ounce bottle:
24–26 ml carrier oils
4–6 ml essential oils total

Never go higher than 20% essential oils. Potency is power, but restraint is the mastery. You will be tempted..."oh just one more drop won't hurt..." YES, IT WILL. The slightest drip, drop, mist, or spritz will throw everything off. Potions, serums, elixirs and all formulas in general require strict adherence to measurements.

That’s 5 teaspoons of pure foundation. Now the magic. . .

Essential Oils: The Spirit of the Spell. Remember, these are concentrated forces. Each drop counts.

Tea Tree
Protection, purification, boundary-setting. Wards off bad energy and bad bacteria.

Frankincense

Lavender
Peace, emotional healing, nervous system calm. Brings softness and safety.

Lemon
Clarity, brightness, attraction. Cuts through heaviness and wakes the aura. These oils don’t just smell. They declare. A balanced essential oil blend for ~7 teaspoons total serum might look like:

12 drops Frankincense
10 drops Lavender
6 drops Lemon
4 drops Tea Tree

That’s roughly 32 drops; 1.6 ml. You can go up to about 4–5 ml total, but start small. Let the potion teach you. Shake gently. Let it rest for 24–72 hours. Scents mature. Magic settles.

This serum can be used as:

A pulse-point fragrance
An anointing oil before meetings, dates, rituals
A grounding scent during anxiety
A signature aura you wear daily

Apply to wrists, neck, behind ears, over the heart. Speak intention while you do. Even a whisper works wonders so as long as you mean it, so say it with your chest!

That’s it. That’s the craft. You don’t need a factory. You don’t need a brand. You need a bottle, a vision, and the willingness to mix beauty with intention. By the time you finish this, you should feel dangerous in the best possible way. Because now you know scents are spellwork. And now, so are you.
